Senior Network Engineer
Achievement:
- Assisted the company’s build out of international call centers based in Puerto Rico and Israel. The call centers were initially comprised of 20 users and expanded to 160 users over a period of 1 year and projections of 400 in 2 years. Designed and directed the implementation of both data and voice networks. Given limited bandwidth resources, several compression techniques including RTP header compression, GRE tunneling over the Internet, and hardware based compression via Expand Networks technology were utilized amounting to savings of approximately $144,000 annually.
- Managed the design and implementation of JP Morgan’s mission critical bond trading infrastructure hosted by IDT Corporation. Overseeing the entire scope of the project and ensured all deliverables were met at specified deadlines while accommodating several amendments to the original requirements and established SLA.
- Introduced, implemented and was responsible for maintaining IP network security including Cisco Access Control Lists, Checkpoint Firewalls which were later migrated to a Cisco PIX platform. Working together with the IDT Information Security department to implement and enforce network security policies. Designed a content filtering solution utilizing the Content Vector Protocol between Checkpoint Firewall and Trend Micro products to meet the business requirement to diminish recreational Internet browsing.
- Responsible for the design, implementation and support of all VPN networking related equipment. Including but not limited to the following, Cisco VPN 3005, and 3030 concentrator, checkpoint Site-to-Site, IP SEC configuration, and any data encryption needed to support vender secure access.
- Redesigned production and internal network infrastructures to accommodate the relocation of IDT corporate headquarters to Newark, NJ within a period of 2 months. This involved the redesign of the core network to improve reliability and to accommodate the expansion from approximately 200 to 1000+ users. Additionally traffic patterns of the existing wide area network were analyzed and studied. Appropriate recommendations and revisions to the WAN were implemented, including the leveraging of an existing global telecommunications backbone, amounting to annual savings of approximately $360,000.
